K-9 GEAR & TRAINING

We all love our furry friends. While our K-9’s live with their handlers, they are not pets in the normal sense we know the best friends of humankind to be. The K-9 team, whether four-legged or two-legged, goes through extensive routine training and has very specialized gear to carry out their missions. Below is a wish list for the team:

K9 & HandlerTraining
Funding for Search and Rescue K9’s come from the handlers themselves or from donations. Handlers have to purchase equipment such as harnesses, tracking devices, training workshops, travel expenses to rescue sites & workshops as well as day to day needs such as food and medical care.

Rex Specs Goggles $85
Necessary for Helicopter Operations

TransK9 SUV Transport Crate $1300
Keeps K9s secure and safety in the back of vehicles

K9 Physical Therapy Needs
K9s work hard and our handlers want to do everything they can to ensure the health & wellness of our partners.

2400VP Laser Therapy System $800
Laser therapy stimulates cells and energizes natural cellular processes. Laser light therapy (LLLT) at specific doses and wavelengths has been proven to: Decrease Inflammation • Increase Circulation • Reduce Pain • Accelerate Healing

Bio Pulse Therapy Mat $800
From acute to chronic conditions, this passive therapy assists the body in healing itself while reducing pain and inflammation.

K9 Health Insurance $1,000 annually Per K9
We never hope to need it, but sure glad it’s there when we do! Healthcare costs when a K9 is sick or injured and needs surgery can be exuberant. Having insurance helps relieve the financial costs of recovery and helps bring our K9 back to being operational.

Decontamination Bath Station $15,000
These working K9s can be exposed to a variety of bio-hazards putting them & their handlers at risk.

Our Commitment

Your gift is a sacred trust. We promise to honor your generosity and use your donation in the most effective way possible. The gift options shown reflect Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue’s projects and continuing needs, and the suggested donation amounts are based on periodic surveys of the teams overall wishlist. Each item is representative of the gift category in which it appears, and donations will be used to provide assistance within that gift category where it is needed most. When you give any rescue gear, a portion of the gift may also help provide other equipment and materials essential to performing rescues.

The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
